The last few days…

Felt sad but tried to do so many things to keep my stubborn & uncontrollable mind occupied.

Watched Harry Potter and thought it was a bit of a letdown. Especially the ending. For those who don’t read the books and only follow the movies, there’s so much that they’re missing out on.

Attended a b’day lunch of a colleague y-day. He only invited people that meant something to him and he proudly claimed that his age is the perfect bra size of a woman. :-) Also had the opportunity to indulge in the best homemade chocolate biscuit pudding ever!!

Had a meet up with the old office crowd on Friday night which ended well.

Reading ‘Hey Whipple Squeeze This’ by Luke Sullivan who’s a copywriter and the below paragraph has to be shared, esp with those in the ad industry :D Below is copy paste of above mentioned section:

It reminds me of a paragraph I plucked from our office bulletin
board, one of those e-mailed curiosities that makes its way around
corporate America:

Dear Ann: I have a problem. I have two brothers. One brother is in
advertising. The other was put to death in the electric chair for first degree
murder. My mother died from insanity when I was three. My
two sisters are prostitutes and my father sells crack to handicapped
elementary school students. Recently, I met a girl who was just
released from a reformatory where she served time for killing her
puppy with a ball-peen hammer, and I want to marry her. My problem
is, should I tell her about my brother who is in advertising? Signed,

Has now got new nicknames in the office. The receptionist calls me Dark Angel and said she loves my dress sense. I have a feeling she’s going to stalk me big time too. Then Thrada calls me Black Beauty. One of the Sinhala writers who joined this place with me from the old office continues to call me his “little princess”, yes he’s twice my age, and he won’t stop telling me that I excite him every time I talk to him on the phone. Arrgghh..

Went for an awesome fashion show with the mother.

Was treated to a lovely dinner by the neighbours. That aunty is a fabulous cook and someday I hope I could know how she prepares her dishes. Really.

Been thinking of getting myself a big wardrobe as the existing 2 cupboards cannot seem to bear my clothes load. They need to be replaced. Besides, one of them is my favourite cupboard which I got shipped down as I used it from my childhood. I also got my childhood bed shipped down some time ago. :)

Ended the weekend with a temple visit which was calming and nice and remained calm when I realized that someone stole my lovely brown chappals/slippers which I got from India… sigh. Seriously, people ACTUALLY rob when they go to the temple, out of all places? My mum was throwing fits of anger and I told her to calm down as it is not she nor I who sinned. :-) Or maybe an old lady with blurred vision accidentally wore them and then the next day was wondering where the hell her slippers are and what a lovely brown pair is doing near her shoe rack. :D Who knows!

So that’s that. How was your weekend?

  2. Thanks for asking LD mine wasn't bad but compared to yours it seems dull. But I did go out for an "Alms giving" and ate some amazing food.

  3. Well may I suggest the following solution for keeping one's flip flops safe?

  4. Weekend was a bit boring.

Princess, Angel and Beauty, not bad as far as nicknames go.

  5. Aww, sucks when you lose slippers at temples. :(

But sounds like a lovely weekend otherwise. :) Been meaning to watch HP, and I so agree that people who haven't read the books are missing out big time... :/
