Wisdom matters

I went for a drink with a bunch of friends after work on Wednesday and had a great time.

Then after going home, I just couldn't fall asleep coz the left side of my jaw was giving me this unbearable pain that I spent the night swallowing pain killers which did not work and ended up listening to music till morning.

I couldn't even make it to work y-day and so went to see a dentist.

He was flirty and old. He asked me who the lady with me was... and when I mentioned that it was my mum, he said that she looked nice!

I stared at him... forgetting the pain for a moment.

Then he said my wisdom teeth didn't have room to come out so it's gone at a different angle and is jammed between my last tooth and the gum and that's why the pain is so bad.

So here I'm at work, with anti-biotics for the infection to clear... and I need to be prepared to admit myself on Sunday for dental surgery where the old flirty dentist can split my gum, extract the damn worthless wisdom tooth (one per surgery he said) and then stitch it up.

I can't wait for it.. coz this pain is so unbearable.. that I would love it if someone could punch me hard on my left jaw right now...

The astrologer who grabbed boobs

There was an astrologer to whom I went to with my mum after a recommendation given by a friend. I usually don’t go for these much but I was actually interested in trying this guy out.

So my mum made an appointment and we went. This was some time late last year. He mentioned what my past was like and it was very accurate. Then he told me what I was going through and predicted what my future would be like, which obviously I’ll have to wait and see if it was all true.

The reading took about an hour and all that while I felt really uncomfortable as there was a ‘way’ in which he looked at me. Thank heavens my mum was there coz that made him behave I believe. So we had a chat and he and my mum were planning ways and means of ‘how to get this girl interested in marriage’… and all that..

When we were leaving he blessed me and gave a pat on my head and said, ‘things will get better and my blessings are with you’. He also mentioned that it was one of those rare occasions where he saw too many good qualities in a horoscope and that there were many special marks/symbols on my palm and that he was also glad to start off his day with a horoscope like mine (ours was the first appointment).

After all this, I have a friend who was frustrated that she was getting old and still not able to find a decent guy to get married to (some women I tell ya!). So I casually mentioned this guy and she instantly made an appointment and went to see him.

I told her never to go alone for these things but she being the stubborn one decided to ignore that piece of advice and went alone. He had given her a very accurate reading too, and then, out of the blue, asked her if he could feel her breasts coz he could tell something about her from that!

This stupid woman actually let him! I mean, COME ON! Can people be that idiotic? She allowed him to and he (obviously) did! He had then said that it’s not a good sign to have such hard and firm breasts!

If it was me, I would’ve probably glared at him and hit him with my massive, in style handbag and let him know that I was never going to give him any satisfaction what-so-ever!

When my friend mentioned this story to me, I was so pissed off and I kept screaming at her and then realized, what’s the point.. and later I get to know that he has done this to some other women too.

Now, I’m really not sure where he is. I’ve been trying to remember his name and I can’t seem to…

So yea, people, specially women, pls be careful and try to‘think’ in situations like this.

My gemstone story

You know how it is with 'apala' right? From the age of about 10, I've always been wearing gemstones mainly because of Rahu.

At the age of 10, I had 3 stones on a pendant lined up one on top of the other and it looked like traffic lights. In school,we had something called the 'top button' rule. Girls always had to keep on the top button during school hours. But on days that are unbearably hot, I would keep it open just for a while and there was one particular teacher who would notice this... and when she does, she would loudly say 'LD, I can see your traffic lights. Pls put on your top button'.

Then at the age of 14, the pendant came off and I started wearing a ring with one stone. 2 years later, this changed to a ring with 2 stones.

I've been wearing that ring till last week. I really don't know if it had any effect on me at all coz I never really understood it at the time I started wearing these (coz my parents told me to) and it just came a habit... a part of life.

Now, I've been told to take that ring off and replace it with another one coz those 'apala' are over and now I apparently need different stones.

So my mum made sure that I had my Saturday free (y-day) to go get this ring done. We visited a few places and my mum really couldn't make up her mind. So finally I was really getting fed up and decided that we could check out Swarnamahal.

We went there and I asked where the gemstone section was. Now, all this time my mum said I had to get a silver ring done with one stone. So I asked for that stone and an elderly gentleman came to our assistance. He had a very calm and pleasing personality, a very good command of the language, a great voice and I started liking him instantly!:)

So we spoke and he showed me different weights of the same stone and gave me prices and I decided on what I thought was good enough and ordered for the ring to be made. My mum kept embarassing me by constantly asking him "are you sure this stone is of good quality?" and each time this gentleman would politely answer her question trying to make her understand that their stones are of good quality and he went to the extent of showing her what a good stone looked like and what a not-so-good stone looked like.

Still she wouldn't stop asking the question.

Then finally the artist drew the ring, coz these need to be made in a way they touch the skin...and as I was about to sign off on the design and make the payment, my mum said "wait! I want to read the paper again"...

So we wait.... and then she says "I must've missed this, but you've to wear two stones.. there's another one.."

At this instance, my bro and I just looked at each other, sighed heavily, and tried not to look at the artist coz he just froze in his tracks and I didn't even want to think of what was going on in his mind.

But,the elderly gentleman was so sweet,he went and got me the other stone and said that it wasn't too expensive.. and got the artist to design the ring again with 2 stones and got everything cleared.

As we were walking out, I thanked each one of the guys, esp the old gentleman...

Then I told my mum that he was very nice.. and that he must've really rocked when he was young. He must've been a charming guy...
