Early this week, I joined a gym that is very close to office. It' expensive! But now I feel it's worth it. I'm taking a risk with the back and ankle issues and trying this as I really need something. I'm actually at a gym after a period of close to 3 yrs!
It feels good!
Everything about the place is nice, except they don't get the members to do stretching the way they're supposed to! Absolutely NO stretching! good thing I know how to.
My legs feel like rocks that can't be moved, and my arms weigh a ton right now and I can't seem to lift them. But I'm sure it'll be good..=)
I had my first early morning workout today and I think I prefer mornings as opposed to evenings.
So yes, that's all that's new.
Have a great weekend y'all!

The blogger story
Once upon a time, there were two bloggers who are very good friends.
Let's call them Blogger D and Blogger L.
D gave L a hash brownie upon request.
It was L's first time.
After having it, L kept complaining that she felt nothing.
Until she told this to Blogger D2.
Blogger D2 mentioned that L was talking too much.
L was in a brainstorming session for new campaign ideas.
L started to flow with magnificent ideas.
D2 was impressed.
D2 said "aha! the hash is working! You know lots of creative people do this.. maybe you need more of it".
L said 'no way' in a sheepish way.. but was also impressed about herself.
Then the high drowned away.
And that's the story of the first hash brownie. damn!

The younger naughty days (2) - The brother
My brother along with some cousin brothers is what some people may call a menace when they were young. My brother was the most troublesome of all and very difficult to handle. My parents were never strict with him as he was a premature baby who was born in 7 months due to complications my mother faced at that time.
I still remember seeing him in the incubator for a month. A tiny little thing I would stare at through the window as I wasn't allowed into the baby room. I called him my little red rose and had an argument with an uncle as he said I should call him my little white rabbit coz he was one fair baby.
He was cute and always liked doing the things I did. But he had a bad temper and always wanted things his way. My parents actually put up with this and I've had many arguments as to why I was the one to get beaten and scolded for many things but he always gets away with nothing.
It was later that I was told about the fact that he was premature and all that. But he's fine. There's absolutely nothing wrong with him and he is better than most kids his age. He's smart and helpful and caring.
When he was in the ages 3 to about 6 or 7, he hated going to kindergarten and school. He would very often stand outside his class carrying his bag and bottle and wait till the day was over. If he got tired in the meantime then he would step into class and sit near the doorway and wait. I would pay him one visit in the interval just to make sure he was ok and maybe buy him a chocolate or something with the ample amount of interval money I had.
How he was taken into school is, my mother would bring him upto the school gate. That's the point where he starts screaming and crying. Then two prefects and the strictest teacher in school would come upto the gate, the teacher will start to sternly scold and the prefects would carry him, one from the head and the other from the feet. He would kick the prefects and play hell, but somehow was taken to class and left there. This would make him furious...but with time he changed.
Whenever we went out, he would carry a little plastic jug with tiny metal toy cars in them. He needed this where ever he went. Lets say we visited a family friend's place. He would first lay out all his little car toys and then play with them. Once he's bored, he would make a loud announcement saying he wants to go home. My parents generally ignored the first announcement. Then he would start to kick my mother and make sure she got the message and pull her handbag.
The contents of the handbag will then be strewn across the floor and he would start pulling her hair. This is the point where he starts crying and then we all get up to leave to satisfy him.
Another reason my parents actually put up with all these, is coz my brother was an 'apala' child. He had to be taken care of very closely. He was a demon in his younger days who has now grown to be the kind of son many mothers yearn to have. My mother is so proud of him and loves him to bits.
When he was 2 yrs old, he's the boy who slipped from the top of the staircase and landed flat on the terrazzo floor. This gave my mother the scare of her life. I still remember I was in my night clothes and my mother just dragged me and my brother to the hospital thinking something could've gone wrong. It gave us the scare of our lives. But he had lifted his head when he was falling and so landed on him pampered bum. He was saved coz of that and totally fine. My mother still gets goosebumps when she remembers the incident and the fear she felt.
He's the son who helps her with her housework including cooking! His room happens to be the cleanest and nicest in the whole house. He is the electrician, plumber and gardener who helps my mum when needed. He is the boy who helps the temple monk whenever he can.
At the age of about 8 or 10, he was the boy along with a few others who massaged Ananda Maithri Thero's feet in his last few days and always went upto him to help him with whatever he needed as he was in the temple close to our place.
He is the boy who keeps my mother company and actually listens to all what she has to say and helps her through things. He's also the brother who says it's hilarious to watch mother/daughter conflicts as non of the two are willing to give up. :)
He's smart and intelligent, helpful and caring, studious and has transformed from the naughtiest kid to a lovely adult in ways that people still can't believe today.

The younger naughty days
- When I was about 6 yrs in age, I used to have a bad habit of lying a lot and spitting at people including my parents whenever I was angry..So one day during school holidays, I remember spitting at my mother for something she said and she hit me with her cane, made me kneel down and brought a mix of chili powder and pepper and rubbed in on my face and made me keep promising that I would never do it again. She made me wait this way for about 15 mins and then handed a jug of iced water and asked me to go wash my own face and led me to the bathroom and left me there. This terrible treatment apparently worked! I bitched about this with everyone when a friend told me her mother poured lime into her eyes!
- At the age of about 7 or 8, I was playing with my bro when I got angry at something and I sort of held his head and hit it on something and half his front tooth broke..:( I felt sad when he was crying but kept telling my parents it was his fault and he made me do it. But I got my fair share of scoldings.
- At the age of about 8, I accidentally sat on my glasses and broke them. I was cunning at that age and so got my bro to sit on them too and told my parents that he grabbed them, sat on them and broke them. :)They believed it!
- I've written here about how I used to take care of my bro when I was younger. At the age of about 8, one day I fed him and went to bed, kept a pillow on my feet and was rocking him to sleep... I fell asleep in the midst of this and when I woke up, my bro of 3 yrs in age had left a big doll on the pillow and gone to watch cartoons and fallen asleep in front of the TV.
- When I was about 3 yrs in age, I had once called up one of my mum's close friends and had a chat with her and asked her something interesting. I used to have a big mouth they say. I had told this lady that when my parents wash me up, then lay me on the bed or whatever and powder me up and dress me. So I had asked whether there's a chance my dad might be doing the same for my mum and this had embarrassed my parents and was also the talk of the town.
- Again at the age of 3, whenever I was angry, I would walk upto our fridge or the neighbours' fridge and pull out all the eggs and crush them in my hands and leave the mess for everyone else to clean up.(weird! can't believe I did those)
- My bro and I used to shoplift chocolates on a few occasions. Just one each and then compare to see who's was more expensive...I encouraged my bro to do this. Until my mum found out one day and gave us the lecture of our lives.
- When I was about 2 or 3 yrs in age, some family friends had come to stay over and that uncle was wearing a sarong. I had gotten into a mischievous mood and without warning pulled this uncle's sarong while he was standing. Everyone had a good laugh and I was apparently forgiven but warned never to do it again. That uncle got the shock of his life but loves me dearly to this date.:)
- When I was 7 years in age, a family friend's son who was about 2-3 yrs older to me had watched a couple of blue movies and told me all about it after making me swear never to repeat anything to anyone. But the very next day, I told me mum, who in turn told my dad in utter shock, who in turn told my friend's father and that was the end of TV for him for a few months. And from that day he never spoke to me again.
- When I was about 10 years in age, my bro and I had a fight about something and to get back at me, my bro sprayed air freshener into my eyes. It hurt like hell and I pretended to be going blind for some time to make him feel guilty and bad about what he did.
- Then once when we were physically fighting, he kicked me in the stomach and I made a huge drama to make everyone feel that something had gone totally wrong and it felt better when my brother was given the warning of his life.:)
There are so many more which don't come to mind right now. But when they do, I'll be sure to post them sometime..:)

The shadow burns
Stepping into the light
The rays seep through
Burning my dark shadow
That falls right ahead
The flames turn to ashes
The wind scatters it all
Dawn turns into dusk
Where light fades to darkness
Darkness can be overwhelming
With a touch of comfort at times
But light is what we yearn for
When darkness takes control
Change is what we look for
It it inevitable they say
Somehow change delays to meet me
In this period of time of need
I'm. Just. Bored.
Wrote this while sitting in for a meeting last afternoon.

That feeling...in this time
There are times, where you may be amidst a crowd of people or friends, or in your own home with family or at work in a meeting.. whatever the environment you may feel alone and perhaps lost. Oblivious to everything around you, you may feel like there's nothing in the world that can make you feel right...
It could be boredom or certain thoughts in your head. It could be just a gloomy cloud passing by in your sky. Things you generally like may not seem interesting to you at such times. You may just want to sit and wait for time to pass and wonder what exactly is happening. Or you may want a sudden burst of change to take place but it may never seem to come.
This phase can freeze the thought process in the wrong moments. I certainly feel dazed right now. Nothing seems to matter. But I'm just waiting for this cloud to drift away. Could it be a mix of slight depression with a touch of boredom, lack of monetary supply to spend away and perhaps the absense of adventure and anything interesting?
I'm just not so sure. Or is it loneliness? Or the fact that you haven't got what you really wanted? Or just a weird spell in time which should be lifted and cast away soon?
I'll just be waiting... for the moment....till I feel and know what I should do.
Only interesting thing at the moment is that I had a cream bun from Green Cabin for the first time last evening and totally loved it.

Trip to Yala in pictures
A great gang of friends and I embarked on this awesome trip to Yala last Saturday morning and we returned just a little while ago. The trip was loads of fun and I truly wish it never ended. It was filled with joy, laughter, sleepless chatter, fun and we played games and sang in the dark when a guy played the guitar...etc etc
We stayed at this nice place called Panthera Lodge and I must say the chef gave us an awesome barbeque last night and it was just delicious!!!
We took the train to Matara and I must say it was my first train ride ever!:) I did not enjoy the ride to Matara at all as it was overly crowded, raining and not the express kind. However, our ride back was in a good and clean express train and I kinda liked it.
From Matara we arranged for a cab to drop us to Yala and did the same for our return trip. Below are a few pics, some may be blurry as the vehicle was constantly moving. We did 2 safaris, the first being the early morning 5:30am safari and then the late afternoon one. In the first safari, we were lucky enough to see a huge leopard walking on the track about 50 metres in front of us. But sadly we couldn't get any pics as there were too many safari jeeps around and this made the leopard walk into the forest area too soon..
Alright folks, I'm really tired now with not much sleep... So below are some pics for now...:)Thanks so much to DQ for organising it and making it happen..:)
Here are some pics.... It was on this trip that I truly wished I had one of them good cams with lenses...I really want a good one now..:( coz the zoom wasn't too great in my Sony digicam and well, that was irritating... Perhaps I should talk to them relatives and friends who have upgraded into better SLR's and see if I could borrow the old one..:)
My First train ticket..:)

Quote so true
"It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone." - Rose Kennedy
And here I'm...waiting for it to lessen..

Trip to Aluthgama
A week ago,two friends and I were emailing eachother complaining about work and letting out the need for some relaxation. And so,one really awesome friend found this deal at Ceysands Hotel in Aluthgama and within a week, we managed to make it happen.
Well, the tripping list did reduce as one by one suddenly had other things to attend to but in the end we still had 9 people and it was relaxing and fun.
Coincidentally there was a blogger on the trip too! I thought I knew her from somewhere when she was introduced and since we travelled in two cars, I txted her asking if she was going on a trip..:) and then we both got excited and it was very lovely meeting her and fun too..:) it was like,we had never met but knew certain things about each other as we've been following each other's blogs for quite a while..
The hotel wasn't that great. Food wasn't either. But the beach was lovely and the wind just takes away the stress and sad emotions. Oh, our A/C wasn't working properly either but the place was fully booked with people both local and foreign.
Once we park vehicles in the areas allocated there is a boat that takes us to the hotel as it's on a separate strip of land and the boat ride was shaky and a bit scary. When we were leaving the hotel, above mentioned blogger actually asked me to hold her hand as I was the only one who could swim..Lol
But then again, what mattered was good friends' company and some chillax time with no maternal gibber and scoldings and what not.I hardly kept my phone with me either... managed to sleep alot and just relax.
We went in two cars, the one I was in was a little buggy like what Dee has but two doors and I was with 3 guys who would talk non-stop and the ride was interesting and filled with laughter all the way.
One of our friends had come down from UK for vacation and had developed an accent. He's very fussy but fun and when he talks with humour, everyone just holds their tummy and roll around laughing. :)
So on the way to Aluthgama, he would get very excited at the site of thambili and so we have to stop whenever he found something he wanted to try..:) and on the way back, we had kurumba (my first time strangely) and loved it... then also bought yummy mangoes from Kalutara and something unusual called Gadi guda (pic below taken while one friend enjoyed it). Tried it for the first time and liked it..:)
Things I noticed, tripping required a comedian..and we kinda had two who kept the whole gang live and kicking..:)
The word 'machang' is used at least 2-3 times in each sentence.
When we were walking on the beach, we found this massive jellyfish who had been swept to the shore. It was breathing and since they sting and are quite poisonous, one of the friends managed to get a stick and push it slowly back into the waves. We thought it might break as it's was very dry and delicate. But somehow managed to push it back to where it should be and watched it go into sea and felt good about it.
All in all it was a good trip. Good to relax and I actually had a nice time. Wish Sunday never came but then, all good things end.. Didn't take many pics as there wasn't really anything interesting around. But just a few below.
Reception

Chandeliers that looked strange and there were too many everywhere..

At rest

Gadi Guda

All in all it was a good trip. Good to relax and I actually had a nice time. Wish Sunday never came but then, all good things end.. Didn't take many pics as there wasn't really anything interesting around. But just a few below.
Reception
Chandeliers that looked strange and there were too many everywhere..

Unbelievable
My mother just gave me permission to go on a trip to Yala with a lovely bunch of people at the end of the month!! - TOTALLY UNBELIVABLE
I thought I was going to faint!
Then when I communicated this in a very excited manner to friends, I hear there are lodging issues and the place that was already booked has asked whether we could change our plans! or they can give our money back..sigh!
Now the hunt for an alternate place has begun again.. sigh and maybe change of destination. Now I want to go to Yala!!!! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!! *tear tear*
What if this trip doesn't happen?
wait - no wonder I got permission so easily! gah!

The current flow
Mid week holidays are awesome... it can provide one with the extra dose of sleep that is wanted..:) and I did use my poya holiday properly.
Tuesday night till midnight was spent at the Bellanvila temple as my mum wanted to listen to Pirith and I thought it was a good idea too. There I was sitting on the devil's tongue and listening while this little kid kept running up to me, smiling, running away and coming back. :)
Then y-day watched certain preachings on TV with the mother as she was too tired to go observe Sil and was engaged in driver duties.
I've also started reading my first Terry Pratchett book and also managed to borrow a copy of New Moon. Terry's book is so damn funny and it's all fantasy! Why didn't I find this before? At times you tend to wonder whether the writer is nuts... but nevertheless, good stuff.
It's amazing how music can fix or break a mood. Kiss fm which is 89.8 is actually good. I think it might be a test transmission but it has a good mix of techno and hiphop at times, especially in the morning. This was introduced to me by Dee and I'm loving it. :)
I've drifted into thought mood these days. Not a good thing really..... but I can't help it.. and yet I'm glad I can manage to fall asleep.
So that's me. So boring.. oh but a bunch of friends are planning a trip Down South this weekend and I SO hope I can go. Mother managed to give permission after a huge bloody sermon. I just hope she doesn't change her mind on the day of the trip. She is VERY unpredictable. sigh. and something tells me I won't be on that trip.. I wonder why.. and what...

The Weekend
It all started with me waking up at 4am on Saturday to go to work and attend a launch event...which went off really well and yours truly's name was called out on stage and thanked personally by the Chairman of that company for all the hard work and effort..:) So that brightened me up a bit..
Then in the sleepy state managed to get a gift for Deecee with Gutterflower and went over to the b'day girl's place.. :)
Then came home and slept away late in the afternoon...
Went to the temple in the night with family and boy was it crowded! It's the pirith and bana time just before the yearly perahera (procession) and the temple actually looks nicer and colourful with lights all over the place. All my bro's phone pics are terribly blurry and just managed to fish out two which seemed alright and not too blurry.
So yea... Sunday I'm just chilling and started to watch Criminal Minds season 1 and I'm loving it! oh and sleeping a lot too..my body is just so tired and mind is exhausted!
