Sleeping disorders yet again...

I have a terrible sleeping disorder sometimes.... The last few weeks were fine.. but it happened again last night... sigh.. It even tends to make my day miserable... I can't take pills coz I got addicted once...

What happens is, I have this disorder for a month or two, and then when there's a lack of sleep, I tend to feel very tired and sleepy for a few weeks.. and then, the cycle begins again... It truly sucks.. and I can only manage about 3 or maxmum 4 hrs of sleep a day.. Such a curse!!

What's worst, is having to toss and turn in bed in hope I'll fall asleep.. only I don't..

I realised that it also tends to happen when something bothers me mentally... Last night was a problem a friend was going through... Am I so sensitive for things like this to affect me so much? sigh.... Well, I happen to be involved in it and it's killing me..... oh maaaaaaaaaan!!

And now I've this splitting headache and I don't even know what I'm doing....

On a lighter note, managed to watch Iron man last eve with a bunch of friends.... and it was good.. except for the fact that the ending could've been much much better!!!! It was sort of disappointing... :( then again, I wouldn't say the movie was excellent... but it was good alright..:)

Bought myself a big bunch of movies and watched half of them already... got 9 more to watch and I'm keeping them for the next weekend..:) Out of what I watched, I'd recommend Untraceable, Knight Rider and The Invasion... Mad money was not great but good to watch... I always LOVED Queen Lathifah... Others I watched - One Missed call and finished watching Ghost Whisperer season 1 and 2..

Oh and it's only recently that I watched Finding Nemo and Shark Tale.... loved them both..:)

hey..ok. now for someone who has had a life time of sleeping disorders, let me say this. Don;t toss and turn and worry about when you are going to fall asleep. there was a time I was going thru a bit of a rough patch and could not sleep at all. in the end i thought , what the heck and stayed up watching Friends episode after episode, and reading books, sipping juice and all that..towards morning i would fall asleep..I am no doctor so I dont know whether this would help..but i'll keep my fingers crossed.

I know this might sound completely and utterly lame but maybe some kind of clearing your mind exercises (yoga-esque perhaps) before your bedtime? Nothing too strenuous. Not even the physical exercises themselves but you know - the ones where they tell you to clear your mind?

I hope it gets better soon! :)

Hope it will get better soon. When I have difficulty in falling asleep, I try to "look" at my breath. Sometimes helps...

I want to watch Iron Man: sadly, all my friends have already seen it :'(

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The best cure for insomnia is reading an academic paper or a textbook. Really, it's a win-win situation because if you fall asleep, you've achieved your objective. If you don't fall asleep, you learn quite a bit!

Middle child - trust me, I do a lot of those too... just doesn't help.. coz i want to sleep..but can't seem to manage anything... it's tough.. perhaps I should get some medication or something..

Santhoshi - you take care too.. it was really awful.. A little better now.. but i feel like it'll happen again... medicine doesn't work!!

scrumpulicious - thanks... actually some sort of meditation might help..... i do try it.. perhaps i need to do a little more... to ease my mind.. and have some peace..:)

Agni - hmmm.... that sounds like a bit of a meditation too... as for the movie, find someone who hasnt. plus i know there are ppl who wudn't mind watching it a second time..:)

Darwin - trust me, I do it all the time.. what happens is, I end up reading...but nothing goes into my mind coz it wanders all over the place... and i still cant sleep..:(

Try some exercise. A good run (an hour or two) or a gym workout or swim should take your mind off the problem and leave you tired which will help you sleep.

Ok, am heading off to bed in a bit but if you are up tonight and raelly bored here's another suggestion.

Go to youtube and check this link (alternatively type "Goldberg Variations" into the youtube search bar)

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=goldberg+variations&search_type=

Its an aria and 30 variations. It was written to put the Russian ambassador to the electoral court of Saxony, Count Kaiserling to sleep)

Play the aria first then the sets of variations 1-7; 8-14 etc

Would suggest you get the recordings played by Glenn Gould, his interpretation of the piece is legendary.

Good night.

Ah I see we have similiar problems...

I have a new strategy now.. I read my textbooks (like old math text books) over and over again until I just fall asleep...

One drawback is falling asleep ON the book with the binding jabbing at your ribs....
